People often say that women are born with safety awareness, but there are also some places that may be overlooked, so today we will introduce some handgun safety tips for women.

1. Always assume your handgun is loaded

Never assume a handgun is not loaded, even if you are fairly sure it is. It's definitely something to remember if someone hands you a gun, even if the person assures you it's not loaded. For any handgun you are handling or transferring from one person to another, take the time to open and inspect the chamber and remove the magazine.

2. Do not point the gun at anything you are not actively shooting

Whether you're practicing on a range or just cleaning your handgun, never point the muzzle at anything you're not going to fire. Be careful when putting the handgun in the holster. Look for a holster that remains stable and doesn't collapse when the gun is drawn, to further avoid the risk of inadvertent discharge.

3. Practice dry fire at home

Dry firing simply means simulating the firing of a gun without any ammo. If you're a fairly new handgun owner or occasional handgun user, doing this at home can give you some added confidence and skill in using and handling your firearm.

4. Know what's behind your goals

In many cases, the bullet does not stop by hitting the intended target. When using a handgun, always pay attention to the situation behind the target, especially when practicing outdoors. If you must use a handgun to mitigate an imminent threat, do your best to quickly assess the situation and determine the immediate cause behind the target.

5. Do not keep your fingers away from the trigger until you are ready to fire

Because all parts of your hand tend to work together naturally, it can be difficult to separate the action of pressing the trigger from the action of grasping the handgun. But if you get into the habit of holding your gun away from the trigger until you're absolutely sure you're ready to fire, you'll be safer. Go a little further and remove your finger from the trigger as soon as you look away from the target.

6. Regularly clean and inspect your handgun

Finally, clean and check your handgun regularly. It is important to do this to ensure the gun is free of any debris, not clogged and working as intended. Checking your handgun regularly also gives you the chance to spot anything unusual that should be fixed before you use it again.
